2019 NFL Power Rankings: No. 32 New York Giants
Giants general manager David Gettleman fed the media one of the most egregious bald-faced lies in NFL history. "We didn't sign [Odell Beckham Jr.] to trade him," Gettleman told a hoard of reporters in January 2019. The GM then shipped the face of the organization to Cleveland for Jabrill Peppers and a host of draft picks two months later. David obviously didn't read the classic childhood novel, No David. Are you dumb? Do you care about selling tickets? This is a generational talent here. Now as a wise woman once told me, “when you play stupid games, you win stupid prizes.” Day One of New York's training camp, Sterling Shepard, the team's leading returning receiver, fractured his thumb. On Day Two, former first-round pick Corey Coleman tore his ACL. And on the third day of David Gettleman's Christmas, free-agent pickup Golden Tate received a four-game ban for trying to ensure his swimmers swam. When Odell cut off the blond, he summoned the demons, cursing an organization that chose to villainize him despite being adored by his teammates. As of now, the plan to liven up Eli Manning's Going Away Party looks mad bleak. Manning's top pass-catching options at the moment are Evan Engram ( not bad ), fifth-round find Darius Slayton, Saquon Barkley (whose a beast but who knows if he'll be able to walk by Week 6 given the number of touches he's going to record) and Benny Fowler? NFC East defensive backs are shaking in their cleats. But hey, Dez Bryant is on the market and so is a platter of Fried Kelvin Benjamin. We know KB could secure the Fat Chicken sponsorship.
Verdict: The defense is a bit improved, but how is this offense going to put up enough points to compete week in and week out? Not a chance in Charles Manson's hell. 3-13
