MANUTE BOL

Manute Bol (1962-2010) - On February 26th, 1987, Sudanese baller Manute Bol recorded 15 blocks (yes, 15) vs. the Pacers, which tied the previous record held by both Bol and Hall of Famer Shaquille O'Neal. Known for his height (7-foot-7), gnarly wingspan, defensive presence and sporadic yet jaw-dropping range from deep, Bol made an impact on the court and beyond, becoming a political activist and humanitarian who campaigned for peace in his war-torn homeland of Sudan, where he funded the construction of several new schools. In 2010, Bol died of complications from a rare skin disease and kidney failure, leaving behind a son, Bol Bol, who is a freshman Center for the University of Oregon. Currently sidelined by a major foot injury, Bol stands at 7-foot-3, possesses a rare inside-out game for his size and is considered a lock to be selected in the top-10 of this upcoming NBA Draft. The Bol name lives on. RIP Manute.
